Now don’t get me wrong I do love a curry all year round but sometimes you need to change it up and head down to ChinaTown. After watching Hannah Gadsby amazing show Nanette at the Soho Theater decided to head south to one of my favourites!

I’ve been to Imperial China soon after I moved to London about 4 years ago – I believe it was one of the first places I went to in China Town and to be honest, year after year, I still do a yearly pilgrimage. With building works going on next door, the place is still going strong and for the past 6 years, it’s been part of the yearly Michelin guide.

Hosted in a maze of rooms across 3 floors, the Cantonese restaurant also has private hired rooms, that are apparently karaoke-ready (still need to check that one!). The menu is not exceptionally different from other restaurants on the same road, but they do have an excellent array of dim sum and the good is great – none of that greasy and oily foods. It is very consistent, from the food to the staff – they offer quite a fast service but with still fresh food (careful of those hot plates!).
